Hello and welcome to Smart Path to Retire!
I’m a 50-year-old small business owner based in Stamford, Connecticut. For over a decade, I’ve been running my company with a dedicated team of six. While I’ve spent the last ten years focusing entirely on growing my business, I recently had a moment of reflection:
“If I’ve dedicated the last ten years to building my business, I owe it to myself to dedicate the next 17 years to securing my retirement.”
As I set my sights on retiring at 67, I found myself facing some big questions:
- “How do I make the most of the 17 years I have left to prepare?”
- “As a business owner, which retirement accounts actually make sense for me? (Roth IRA, SEP-IRA, Solo 401(k), etc.)”
- “How can I balance the demands of running a business with the need to build a stable financial future?”
This blog is a record of my personal journey in finding those answers. I am not a financial advisor. I’m just a business owner like you, navigating the complexities of retirement planning, learning as I go, and documenting every step of the process.
I hope this space serves as a roadmap—not just for me, but for anyone else currently wrestling with these same questions.
“Together, we can be more prepared, more informed, and freer in 17 years.”
I’m glad you’re here to join me on this journey. Let’s figure out our path to retirement, one post at a time.
